Skylines...

Friday, April 24, 2009

If you don't already know, skylines at night are one of my favorite things to view as well as photograph. I've been to New York City, Seattle, and of course Los Angeles countless times.

I've also been delving into video editing, and some 3d creation/rendering. I used textures from some of my skyline images to create this nighttime flyover a fictional city. Check it out:

Sorry about the low resolution, unfortunately I don't have any control on how blogger compresses videos!

Headshots of late

Monday, April 20, 2009

In addition to Annette, I've been privileged to shoot some other great performers' headshots. I absolutely love headshots- seeing people when they step into the perfect lighting, I don't even have to worry about the lighting, we just have fun and capture some great emotions.

This is Janelle Tag, whom I was introduced to by Marco Meija, a friend from the Inland Empire.

Here are some images of Kristin and Mikey, an engaged couple whom I also knew from the Inland Empire and Junior University productions.

Love the depth of field from the Canon 50mm 1.8 lens! :)

Dessert!

Emily and I have been searching for a good super-close-to-home doughnut shop. We found one that has been closed every time we drove past it. Today, however, the weird-hours doughnut shop was open when I got home from a short day at work.

A few shots of this tasty little treat were uploaded to the big mystery- Getty Images. I only have a few images uploaded/on their way to Getty, but am curious and intrigued to the potential it holds.

New Camera!

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Thanks to Uncle Sam, I was fortunate enough to be able to upgrade from the old Canon 30D to a new Canon 5d mark II.

Some of the great things about this camera:
  • full frame sensor (means it will get the full effect of my wide angle lenses)
  • 21+ megapixels, almost 3x my old camera. Allows for much greater cropping flexibility and editing flexibility, not to mention huge prints!
  • Much better higher-ISO shooting (translation-better low light. With my lenses in this camera, it can darn near see in the dark!)
  • Full 1080p HD-video! Need I say more? With the addition of a reasonably priced microphone, this means big things for upcoming weddings!
  • Lastly, it means that my old camera can now serve as a second camera, backup camera, and wife's camera!
Here is a shot on the new camera with the fisheye lens.

And here is a section of the image viewed at full resolution:

The detail in the images this camera produces is incredible!

Fun shoot with Annette

Friday, April 10, 2009

I recently had a great shoot with Annette Jordan, a friend from Biola. We did a combination shoot with headshots for her acting pursuits (which are going quite well from what I hear) and some stock photography. Here are a few of the images we made.

I've graduated!

Really didn't know what to title this one!

Reason for Watermark

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Just an FYI- you will probably notice that when I post images, oftentimes there will be a watermark over a part of the image. The reason is not that I want to be self-centered and get my website out there even more, (shoot, if you're viewing the image then you're already at the site!), but because of my contract of with iStockphoto. Exclusive iStockphoto.com artists can't "give away" pictures, and posting full resolution images without a watermark might be intepreted as such. Anyways...

Welcome

Pardon me while I get this blog up and running. In the mean time, check out some photos!

This is one of the funniest shots from Emily's and my wedding.
