Diana and Ryan wedding, part two

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Here is the second set of images from Diana and Ryan's wedding day. As I said before, this was a fun and beautiful day to be a part of. Thanks Diana and Ryan!

Romance after being wed

The flames made for a fun background element. Ryan and Diana had such a great chemistry

Beautiful lighting on a beautiful bride!

A sunset kiss over the lake

Bride in transit, then stealing a kiss during a busy reception

The dip, displayed as elegantly as ever

With the fisheye lens, almost surreal looking

The venue was fantastic

Sweethearts relaxing after a crazy day

Hope you enjoyed some of these images! Some more great weddings to come during the summer, can't wait!

Diana and Ryan wedding, part one

Working with John to capture moments from Diana and Ryan's wedding day was spectacular. The wedding took place in Temecula, and it was absolutely beautiful. This will be a two-part blog post as there are many images to share!

Diana excitedly waving to a friend on her special day, and her groom, Ryan.

Father of the groom getting ready for the day

The groom and his men, far, far in the background

Bride and groom enjoying the day

Here's the scene for the wedding

A kiss... then riding off together for some alone time

An intimate moment in the wine field

These two were so great to work with, so happy the whole day

Beautiful scene, yes?

Relaxing!

Beautiful smiles

The mother-son and father-daughter dances.

And the bouquet and garter toss.

What a fun day it was. I really enjoyed getting to know Diana and Ryan. They were both calm, excited, and ready. Check back soon for some bride and groom images, perhaps some of my favorite that I have been privileged to take.

Rancho Palos Verdes HDR

Monday, May 25, 2009

HDR is the acronym for high dynamic range. In digital photography, this refers to combining multiple exposures of the exact same image. For example's sake, one image would be underexposed, one would be properly exposed, and one would be overexposed. This allows for scenes with areas that contrast each other to be seen in a single image without blown out highlights or black shadows. In the below image- a properly exposed image would show the sky as blown out, or the foreground area to be too dark.

Emily and I woke up early and drove to Rancho Palos Verdes, and made some images of the Point Vicente Lighthouse and its surroundings along the coast. It was overcast the entire morning, which made for some cool, gloomy images.

Here's an HDR shot of the scene

Biola Nursing Pinning Ceremony, May 21, 2009

Friday, May 22, 2009

Last night was the nursing pinning ceremony for 2 friends of mine, Katelyn Carey and Kate Jordan. I went to get images of them being pinned, turns out I shot just about the whole night! I knew way more people graduating than I thought I would, which made it a truly fun night.

More Actors' and Actress' headshots

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Julie (formally Salee) Partin had me do her headshots a while back, and we were able to coordinate a group headshot session with her, Robert 'Bobo' Chang, and Matthew Jones. As usual, the lighting in one of my "secret spots" was perfect, and the 1.8 lens and I worked our magic. It was after this shoot that I've decided to try and incorporate more horizontal headshots into headshot sessions. They aren't necessarily conventional, but I like the way they allow for some empty space and bring focus to the face and eyes.

This isn't the first time I've had the opportunity to work with Matthew. Check out his website for more about his recent work.

Robert "Bobo" Chang has made appearances on multiple TV shows recently, most notably FOX's "Lie to Me."

Thanks for a fun shoot you three. :) Click here to see more headshots.
